Discovery Resorts Rottnest Island
Wake with the sun and step out onto the white sand beaches of Rottnest Island in a stay at Discovery Resorts, a luxury eco-tent glamping experience with eco credentials.
Drift off to the gentle lapping of waves and the serene sounds of nature, with just the heavy canvas of your tent separating you from the stars and the sand as you sleep. Through the thoughtful weaving of natural elements into its design, the resort invites you to reconnect with nature in the most luxurious way.
Eco-tents come with the kinds of amenities and luxuries you’d expect from upscale hotel rooms. Think private timber decks overlooking the ocean and next level comfortable pillow-topped beds, alongside well appointed bathrooms.
The property encourages eco conscientiousness and has been designed to strengthen the sand dunes. Sustainably made tents have minimal environmental impact, and use natural materials to encourage airflow, although tents are equipped with ceiling fans and electric heaters. Embrace the sensibility and travel mindfully.
From your tent, it’s a short meander down to Pinky’s Beach, with views of the iconic white brick Bathurst Lighthouse. Otherwise, head over to the sumptuous resort-style onsite pool, which spans a respectable thirty metres, and grab drinks and snacks from the poolside bar.
Also on site, Pinky’s Rottnest Island is quintessential beachfront dining, and maintains the same sustainable ethos as the rest of the property. Sustainable seafood is provided by local seafood heroes Fins and produce by Trinity Meats and EVOO Foods, PFD and Morley Growers. Or stay in and make the most of your room, with room service available in all tents.
At Discovery Resorts Rottnest Island, reset, reground and reconnect.

What’s There
A trip to Rottnest is all about sun and surf. The beach is on your doorstep at Discovery Resorts Rottnest Island but there’s also a stunning resort style pool and bar if that’s more your style. At the heart of the property you’ll find Pinky’s Rottnest Island. The venue offers a fusion menu, skewing both Asian and Mediterranean, featuring local produce in both its restaurant dining room and sunset deck. Expect a strong focus on sustainably sourced seafood.
What’s Around
The resort is a short ten minute walk to Rottnest’s town centre, or an even shorter bike ride, and the wider island is easily accessible by bike (bike hire is available on the island). Here, you’ll find the Rottnest Island General Store selling everything from groceries to sun hats, romance novels, magazines and quokka mementos, and next door the much celebrated Rottnest Bakery.
Discover the island’s complex past, and take a moment of reflection, at the nearby Wadjemup Museum.
Explore the island’s many beaches and coves, or hit up the tennis courts next door for a quick cardio burn, then grab a treat from Simmo’s Ice Creamery.
What’s Super Special
Did we mention the door front ocean views? Throughout summer the property will be host to Soundwaves, a live music series featuring live DJs, acoustic musicians, and other musical performances every Saturday and Sunday.
Children
Imminently child friendly. The property has more than 60 family tents available, including six deluxe family tents that boast their own private patio area. The onsite pool is a popular option for entertaining the family.
Breakfast
All bookings include a buffet breakfast. Expect standard buffet fare, from eggs to baked beans to bacon, as well as pancakes, fresh baked pastries, and fruit, granola and yoghurt.
Eating and Drinking
You won’t regret a meal at Pinky’s, but if you’re looking to stretch your legs there is plenty more on offer in the town. For upscale dining, try South-East Asian-leaning Lontara, or Mediterranean-inspired Isola – there’s a common theme of great seafood underpinning both. Patrons seeking a boozy lunch are often found at Hotel Rottnest, while families flock to Frankie’s for pizza, pasta and parmies. The Rottnest Bakery is an unmissable experience while visiting the island. Stock up on heady loaves at one of the country’s most celebrated bakeries, grab a jam doughnut or cream pie for a sweet treat, or pair a bag of white bread rolls with a rotisserie chicken from next doors ‘chook shack’.
Things to Book
From bike to boat, there’s plenty of ways to tour the island. Staff at the dedicated tour information desk will be happy to assist with bike and aquatic equipment hire, as well as adventure boat and sea plane tours for a different view of the island.
